I seem to think it means that he would get into any club side in the world, but what if that club already has a world class player in that position?

World class to me is if the player would not look out of place in a world XI.
So Steven Gerrard, Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Lampard, Kaka or Xavi wouldn't look out of place in a world XI even though obviously there wouldn't be enough space for all of them to start.
