Tube Style
Kitchen light stopped working, I purchased a new tube style bulb. It want to go on but doesn't.. plz help.?

I'm not sure what needs replacing. I've figured out it's not the bulb so it has to be that ballast thing or theres some small removable battery thing that looks like a thick felt tip pens lid with 2 copper connector things sticking out from it.

Not sure what I need to replace?

Want to get this sorted out for my mum before the end of the week because I have work and uni.

Any advice will be appreciated.

That thick thing with two connectors is a capacitor that provides the boost to get the tube started. They don't last forever. A failed cap is the commonest cause of fluorescent lights not working.
You can get one in most supermarkets quite cheaply,or,of course, in an electrical store. To remove it,give it a twist anticlockwise and it should pull out easily. Same as a normal light bulb. Inserting the new one is just as easy, but make sure the switch is off first.
