Any thoughts on a possible replacement for the RAF's Tornado GR4's?
the British Government's Future Offensive Air System (FOAS) has recently been canceled and a replacement for the Tornado GR4 Ground Attack Aircraft delayed indefinitely. but the Tornados WILL be coming to the end of their service lives sometime in the 2020-2030 period and a dedicated Ground Attack Aircraft to replace it is looking increasingly less likely. the current thinking in the new (useless) British Government is that the Ground Attack role will be fulfilled by specialized Eurofighter Typhoons or F-35s carrying precision bombs at high altitude.
do you have any news on a possible replacement? or do you have any ideas on what else could be done to fulfill this role?
