Why do stereotypical Irish people have red hair and wear green and have really strong Irish accents?
I was just wondering because I'm from Dublin and nobody in my school has red hair or really strong Irish accents.
And I spend most of my breaks in the west of Ireland and none of my friends their have red hair or really strong Irish accents.
Because its what you said in your question, its sterotypical rather than typical. Its boderline racism, almost bullying to mock people and put them in groups. There is similar for the scottish.
Its just how it is.
There is a more complex answer about our history and the Irish history to see where these generalisations first developed and how, but I will leave that to someone else to explain.
