I have a cement slab poured in my backyard and the top is very rough. Any ideas on what I can do to smooth it?
The slab is dry and the frame is still around it. Rubber top? Portland cement? I don't know what to do, but it currently looks like crap.
"Frame is still around it" -- if you mean the framework for pouring it... I take it you just did this yourself? You have to use a good float on the surface (while it is wet) to achieve a smooth finish. A 'brushed' surface is good for sidewalks, etc, to prevent falling when it is wet or icy.
If you didn't float the surface properly, your best bet is probably going to be to go with a self-leveling compound, or epoxy. There are companies that specialize in epoxy finishes, and there is quite a variety of looks you can achieve.
