My wife wants to adopt my two year old should i let her?
My wife and i were recently married and she is pregnant and today she shocked me because she wants to adopt my two year old. I have sole custody of him and he is from a previous marriage and my ex is in prison for attempted murder cause she almost killed our son while she was in a drunken rage. Well anyways i am not really sure why she wants to adopt my two year old i mean she and my son are incredibly close and she has been more of a mom to him then anyone. I am just i guess worried. And not sure what this would mean. Advice?
Maybe she just wants to make it more "official" but sit down and talk about this with her. One thing to bear in mind and I apologise for this sounding morbid but if anything happened to you then your wife wouldn't have any issues with custody if she had adopted your two year old. Regardless of whether she does or not it's something you need to think about and make your wishes clear in a will. You state your wife is a good mother so that's a good starting point to discuss whether you agree with her or would want her to have legal guardianship if something happened to you.
