Gotta fear of diving to the bottom of a pool, tips?
So I've got a fear of diving down to the bottom of a pool and I'm going to be doing life guard training in about 2 years (that involves swimming to the bottom) so those who have struggled in the past with the same thing as me, is it easy for you now to swim to the bottom? Although I'm a good swimmer, I just struggle with that, so any tips? and also, it's not diving off the wall or board it's diving from where you are in the pool. Thanks in advance
i used to think that i was going to drown if i swam near the bottom of the pool or near the deep ends. when i got older, my mom made me join a swim team and i became a strong swimmer (this was when i was in elementary school, 4th grade & 5th grade). one day my swim buddies and i were playing in the pool after practice was over. they were diving in towards the bottom and playing with toys (that sunk to the bottom). I'm not sure if this is going to help, but i told myself at that moment that i was strong, i could swim, and i could do it. i dived down to the bottom of the pool to get the toys with my friends. all the while i told myself that i could do it and that i was more mature and strong. so in the end, i wasn't afraid of the deep ends of the pool (the bottom). all i did was suck up all my fear and have courage. hopefully you can do it. just believe in yourself. 
believe that you are strong!
ps. since you are going to do lifeguard training, think about the people that you can save, not your fear. think about the people who will thank you for your hard work for saving their loved ones.
