Why have Jewel's newer records sucked so bad?
I fell so in love with her album Pieces Of You. But ever since Pieces Of You, her records have never measured up. She doesn't sing to the best of her ability anymore, and her lyrics aren't as good. I know she can do better. You'd think she'd grow and improve as an artist, but her subsequent efforts are weak. Spirit just doesn't cut it. This Way was a big disappointment. How does a woman go from singing womanly, mature and beautifully to singing like a baby? What a waste of talent. I know 0304 was ironic, so no criticism there. And her latest one- not as bad as her last few but she took a bunch of good old classics and overproduced them. I'm just not having it at all.
Why isn't she using her potential talent? It couldn't be an attempt to "sell out" because Pieces Of You sold more than any other of her records by a landslide.
