THE WORLD’S GREATEST HERO

Jesus answered, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6, NIV).

Jesus Christ is the greatest hero of mankind.  However, many people in our world today don’t worship Jesus Christ.  Sadly, they worship other undeserving heroes like Britney Spears, Brad Pitt and Paris Hilton, or they worship material possessions instead of Christ.  The days are long gone when Lassie, Daniel Boone, Roy Rogers and Flipper were our heroes.  In Isaiah 49:6-7, God prophesied plainly who would be coming as a light to the Gentiles and to bring salvation to the ends of the earth (v. 6).  That would be Jesus and He still rules our world today (Ps. 115:3).

Our society today has a very low view of God.  We need to recapture the majesty of God in our churches and individual Christian lives.  Until we realize how hopeless our situation is without Christ, we cannot see the need of a Hero to rescue us.  We are all totally depraved and have no hope without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:23; 6:23).  God is appalled at our sins.  As a nation, we need to confess our sins, corporately and individually, and turn back to God (II Chronicles 7:14).  Through my struggles with CFS for the past fourteen years, God has revealed to me more of the total depravity of my own heart.  I am a much greater sinner than I thought I was.  Selfishness, impatience, pride, self pity and lack of faith and trust in God often rule my life.  I want to be more like Christ.

Only God can solve our sin problem and accomplish salvation.  He alone can help us work through our despair over poor health, financial and marriage problems and/or the many other trials in life.  Jesus is the true Hero, not us.  He’s not going to remove all our problems in this life, but He could if He chose to.  Turn to Him today, confess your sins and put your hope and trust in Him.  He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5; Matt. 28:20)!

Dear Jesus, we praise You for Your power and Sovereignty over our world today!
