Heavier vs. Lighter Darts?
All things equal, which are better? Heavier darts (let's say 25 grams and over) or lighter darts (24 and lower). I'm new to darts so I'm not even sure if 25 and over is considered heavy or not...
Neither dart is better it's all about which you prefer throwing. If you like the heavier darts then look for a dart with at least 80% tungsten construction. Tungsten is a dense metal that is used to reduce the physical size of a dart so they can be heavier and not too bulky. As you play more darts always ask people you play against if you can try their darts and see if you like to throw the heavier or lighter darts.
One thing I always recommend to new dart players when they get a set of dart is the also buy a few different types of shafts and flights and experiment with different set ups. The choice of shafts and flights you use greatly affects the flight path of the dart and with experimentation you should be able to find something to match you throwing style.
I'd say 24-25 grams is right in the mid-range and is always a good bet if it's you first set of darts. Personally I use a very skinny 21 gram dart I don't know too many people who like throwing my darts.
