what is the best, most realistic combat flight simulator ?
I want an ultra-realistic modern combat flight simulator. I used to play Jane's F/18 but the graphics are very outdated. If you've played jane's, then you know the level of realism i'm looking for.

Falcon 4.0 was one of the best ever. It was released about 10 years ago, but I think there's a graphically updated version. Thoroughly researched and accurate down to the last detail, and with a hell of an operations manual.
Unfortunately good flight sims have been pretty slim pickings in the last decade. Probably because they're not pick-up-and-play games and probably because of the slide into FPS hell.
