How to cover a drainage ditch for dogs?
I have a 55x3.5' cement drainage ditch in my backyard that my tripod siberian husky has difficulty crossing. We had it covered with 1/2" diamond-grid steel meshing in the spring, which, while providing adequate footing for the dog, a) started rusting immediately, b) sags quite a bit under human weight.
We'd like to replace it with something more durable and sturdier, without breaking the bank. I found industrial-strength fiberglass-reinforced plastic gridding online, which would do the job, but cost more than $2400, and also be quite heavy. Our landscaper proposes redwood slats at a projected cost of about $1200.
Any other materials/suggestions/products I can consider?
