Dart Back
I have a 73 dodge dart and i'm have having problems w/ it dieing when i pull it into gear and try to take off.

My dart has a 225 slant 6. It starts and runs fine in park. But when i pull it down into gear it spits and sputters a bit and then dies. If I play with the pedal i can get her going and once i'm on the road it runs fine. Some times when i pull up to a stop sign it dies again and some times it doesn't. Weather it does die or not at the stop sign it usually spits and sputters a bit more on take off and i have to play with the gas pettle somemore to get her going agian. One time in the last week it back fired just a bit and some times when i turn it off i can smell gas. Is this a problem with the carborator? If so how do i adjust weather it is running rich or lean. Is that even the problem? If the carb isn't the problem what is? Dodge / late model car experts please help.

get a rebuild kit for the carb and rebuild it, I'm sure as old as it is it needs it and also put on a new fuel filter.
