Cannondale mountain bike is worth the price premium?
I have the choice to buy a Cannondale F6 disk for about £ 360 or Scott for money same. I went to check on the bikes at Evans Cycles and felt that the Cannondale was much better built, but the specification was rather thin. The hydraulic disc and Scott had a better seat. However, the other day I saw a Saracen Trace 1 for only £ 299 which is made of aluminum butted, has impressive brakes and forks from RockShox suspension of magnesium that are better than the dart guns type 2. Should I buy in accordance specifications? Or is it the name of Cannondale offers better geometry for the price? I currently run a pretty basic Halfords Special therefore feel that a major improvement!
Dart2 of the range is not great. I do not think they even have a lock-out, that Scott will almost certainly. Cannondale is nice, but only if you pay the price. Many manufacturers of big names will have little low-end components than other bikes at the same price. Scott is a great bike, and I prefer the geometry to those of most Cannondale. Cannondale tend to be slightly up for riding XC good. The Scotts will take a slightly more aggressive, and fit the style. Watch deraillers and brakes. Good mechanical discs are better than bad Hydro. And good linear pull / V-Brakes are better than mechanical drives poor! As for the choice .... I like Cannondale, but not for the price. I think they not worth it if you find a good sale. The Scotts are consistently good in my book. Also, I agree with another answer here .... you really should watch the most part. It's the only thing you can not change! Brakes, forks, rims, saddles - they can all be updated .... executives are at the heart your bike ... get one that works best for you - Make sure you WALK BEFORE YOU BUY IT! If you have not already done so, do it! Sometimes you think a bike LOOKS good, but when you step on it for the first time, you may feel totally awkward. It's about what feels good. Good chance.
